I have recently been asked for some advise on sunken gardens and what a gem they are if you have the space and the slope of varying heights or levels. These 2 pictures have been sourced from the internet and I just love them. Sweeping steps and layers of colour with gorgeous natural stone make these private hideaways a place to entertain and watch nature take its course.

Both these are quite achievable and both give a low level secluded sun traps just as you would in a Mediterranean garden.

When the tiered levels are possible, this allows double or even triple the amount of planting giving all that colour throughout the year. Great for herbs and sun loving plants to bask in the warmth.

If you have sloping garden and would like some advise on how to tackle it, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
